Dance Artist

Heidi Masalin is a freelance choreographer and dancer, and the artistic director of the contemporary dance group KATVE [blind spot] , established in 2012. She received her Master Degree is Dance from the Theatre Academy of Finland in 2005.
”My pursuit as an artist is to open up new directions of thought with my works, and thus to influence the societal atmosphere is an expansive way. My aim is to create artworks together with my artistic collaborators. In my dance, I move in the landscapes of sensitivity, particularity, and the wild force of nature. I am interested in different levels of bodily presence, the possibilities of bodies, and the enormous power of communication that the body, movement, and dance hold.”
Heidi has worked as a. dancer and choreographer in municipal cultural centers, Dance Theatre Hurjaruuth, Zodiak – Center for New Dance, Dance Theatre Raatikko, and festivals such as Tanssin Voima and Hurraa!. Her works have toured extensively in Finland, in theatres and festivals as well as schools and kindergartens.
The works of KATVE [blind spot ] have been chosen as ITU performances (Children’s Culture) of the year twice; Mariel -kertomus tytöstä, joka ymmärsi veden kieltä, was chosen as ITU 2014 and Kastor & Pollux as Little ITU 2018.
