Leena Harjunpää

Leena Harjunpää is a choreographer, dancer, artistic director of Leena Harjunpää Co and Helsinki Artist of the Year 2022. Leena Harjunpää Co was founded in 2014. Other company members are sound designer and music maker Jouni Tauriainen, lighting and set designer Eero Erkamo and costume designer Joona Huotari. The company often collaborates with other artists.

Leena Harjunpää has worked as a choreographer and performer widely in the field of performing arts in collaboration with actors, directors and puppet theatre artists. Harjunpää graduated from the Theatre Academy Helsinki with an MA in dance art in 2011 and with a BA (dance teacher) from the Arts Academy of Turku University of Applied Sciences in 2007. Harjunpää’s works are characterised by their visual, dance-oriented, perceptive and even comical aspects, while they dive deep into the behavioral patterns of people.
