Marjaterttu Willman

Choreographer Marjaterttu Willman is the Artistic Director of contemporary dance group Willman Dance Company. The company brings together artists who share a passion in dance and stage art.

Willman’s most recent work Nine lives (2017) and Old people, odd people (2015) have been presented at festivals in Croatia and the Dominican Republic. In addition to her own productions, Willman also choreographs for the Finnish National Ballet, the Ballet School of the Finnish National Opera, and Vantaa Dance Institute.

Willman is the artistic director of contemporary dance festival Tanssin Voima, which she founded in 2015.

Willman is a dancer at the Finnish National Ballet. She has had a versatile career in the company since 1994, dancing both leading roles and corps de ballet roles in contemporary as well as classical pieces. During the season 2003-2004 Willman danced with the contemporary company Ballet de Lorraine in France. She has toured with the Finnish National Ballet and Ballet de Lorraine in Europe and Asia.

Willman also works as a Pilates instructor for the National Ballet, OloOk and Pilates Power House in Helsinki.
